This cabin is a little more luxurious than I normally would like – it’s kind of gigantic, and has a pool after all. But… it’s nice. Made from reclaimed materials, it has a wonderful view, and even a cute little vegetable garden (which appears to be well-protected from deer).

Every kid likes tree houses. Perhaps it’s because I never had one as a kid, that I’m so drawn to them now. But once you take a look at this one, you’ll be drawn toward it, too! It’s built on seven trees, has a huge platform, two handbuilt staircases… And it’s a rental!

I love this cabin, located in the Methow Valley of Washington State. To me it looks like a guard tower, or one of those old Forest Service fire towers. I know very little about this cabin, other than it looks great!

Maybe it’s because I live in Seattle, but I love houseboats. This home on Lake Huron is really more of a floating house than any sort of boat, but it still fits the bill. The interior is beautiful, but it’s the location that takes the cake.

The BrightBuilt Barn is a bit of an experiment, but it looks awesome. It’s all set to be certified LEED Platinum, and includes LED lights that ring the bottom of the house to signify how energy efficient it is. If the lights are green, that means the house is producing more energy than it’s using. If the lights are yellow, that means it’s borderline. If the lights are red, then the house’s energy use is higher than it’s production. It’s a good idea!

It all started when I began looking for that perfect little home for that perfect little plot of land. Dozens and dozens of bookmarks, RSS feeds and folded magazine corners later, CabinZoom was born. What’s the point of stockpiling all that information if I can’t share it?
Speaking of sharing, if you come across a cool cabin design or location, share it! We’ll post it!
