Classicly Modern Normandy Retreat

There’s a lot to love about this classicly modern Normandy retreat. It’s completely off grid, for one thing. I love the bretons – I’ve never seen those before, and they’re very nice. The style is just great.

Tennessee Solar Retreat

I love this small off-grid Tennessee retreat, complete with solar panels on the roof and a rain water cache. It’s tiny enough to be easy to maintain, but just big enough to let you move around a bit and enjoy your weekends at the lake.

I’m normally not a fan of cement in architecture – it feels very cold to me. But this place is nice – maybe it’s the harsh environment – but it feels strong and protective.

This is another dream home. I don’t know if it’s the home itself, the patio, or the location, but it’s awesome. I even love the stairs down to the home!

floating solar off-grid home

UK-based Kingsley Architects have come up with a new way to live off-grid: in a floating caravan-style home. These small house boats will be solar powered, with many of the green features that you’d expect. They’re nice looking, to boot.

Separation Creek House

How’s that for a view?

Separation Creek House

The amazing thing about this place is that just by applying the right paint colors it melts into the surrounding hillside. It’s a lovely place.
