I love dome-shaped houses. Whether yurt homes, earth bag houses, or something more unique, there’s something natural and calming about circular homes. Thus, when I saw this blog post on TinyHouseBlog.com about International Dome Houses, I was ecstatic.
The International Dome House Company is based in Japan and has made dozens and dozens of dome houses throughout the country. Made primarily from expanded polystyrene, they are green and not difficult to make. And if you’re worried about how they look, just check out the pictures below. And wipe that drool from your chin!

Why go to all the trouble of building a treehouse when you can just grow a treehouse? The new practice is known as Arcorsculpture, and a few new companies are coming up with some great designs!

This one is really interesting, because I grew up not far from Mazama. Really. Those sagebrush and pine tree dotted hillsides are very family – I might know exactly where that cabin is!
Anyway, back to the cabin… I like it. It’s a little obtrusive, but it looks like it’d survive the winters.

This small house is a little too boxy and contemporary for my tastes, but it still looks nice. And it has great windows!

I love this smallish weekend home in Hood River, Oregon. It blends nicely with the environment, but still provides plenty of livability and space.

This delightful little summer cabin has it all. It’s built from local wood and reused windows, and the forest even grows through part of the roof! It’s perfectly small and cosy, plus has an amazing view. I love it.
