There are log cabins, and then there’s this. Once the shutters are closed, it looks exactly like a square pile of wood. But on the inside is a fully-furnished recording studio! It’s an amazingly crazy design.

The cute Flexa Studio starts at only $8950 (plus shipping), and is a fully configurable prefab studio. For that price it’s a great deal! I love it!

I love how this house in Ibiza, Spain is so organic. It practically flows down the hillside. Plus, the shapeliness of the construction makes all sorts of interesting nooks and crannies. It ends up being a very unique and personal space.

I love the comfortable yet modern yet warm feeling of this Texas lake retreat. Maybe it’s the colors, maybe it’s the design, I’m not sure. But I like it.

What makes Barerock wonderful is the way it blends with the forest, and that was exactly the plan. Built 70 feet above Drag Lake in Ontario, the cabin is constructed on 14 concrete piers, and it almost looks like the cabin floats above the pine needled forest floor. The cabin is a simple one-story design, and looks awesome.

This is technically a treehouse, but it’s greater than any treehouse I’ve ever seen. It has a 1,00 square-foot roof garden, domed skylights, composting toilets, and it’s built on a foundation made from recycled telephone poles. The best part of the treehouse is that its at Camp Twin Lakes, an area set aside from kids with special illnesses, disabilities and other types of challenges. What a wonderful design and idea.

For those that think that they wouldn’t want to live in a dark, cold shipping container, check out these photos from a shipping container home built for a green street fair in Phoenix.

Costing less than $100,000, these eminently affordable shipping container homes from Upcycle Living can be built out of up to four shipping containers, are solar panel ready, and include a wide array of recycled and green accoutrements.
On first glance, this home inspired by a lifeguard tower is nice, but not awesome. That is until you see the rooftop deck. The deck is so awesome it almost brings tears to my eyes!
