Amazing Architecture on Hawaii Mega House

I’m not sure if calling it a mega house is really fair. While it does take up 8,000 sq ft, it’s a series of “pods” connected by walkways and semi-indoor hallways. Regardless, the architecture is amazing.

I’d love to have an open air bedroom like that – I’d sleep awesome (until I was eaten by local critters).

Morerava Prefab Cabins on Easter Island

Morerava Prefab Cabins on Easter Island

But entirely in Peru then shipped to location on Easter Island, this simply designed cabins looks great. While they are helped substantially by the balmy subtropical climate of Easter Island, they still have a look that could be easily copied elsewhere, even as a simple wooden shell over a shipping container.

Rooftop Garden and Deck

I love this rooftop deck and garden. Everybody has space on their roof for something like this (well, almost everybody), and what a great use of that space!

I find the second picture a little disconcerting. I feel like one misstep and you end up at the bottom of the mountain.

HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes

HGTV has their 2011 Dream Home Sweepstakes going on, and this year’s home is a doozy (plus you also win a 2011 GMC Acadia Denali, plus $500,000). The home looks like it’s gigantic, and comes fully furnished with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, Ethan Allen furniture, Lutron electronics, and so on. Total retail value is a tad over $2,000,000! By the way, if you win you are required to invite me out for a weekend stay. :)

Organic Wood and Solar House

Organic Wood and Solar House

I wanted to share this house not because it’s so environmentally friendly or because it’s so oddly shaped, but because the interior looks so comfortable.

Organic Wood and Solar House

I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the rounded, organically shaped walls, doors, ceilings and cabinets, maybe it’s the warmth of the exposed wood. It just looks very comfortable, easy-going, relaxed. I like it.

Concrete Slide House

Why not put a slide in? It will be my house that I’ll be living in with my kids!

Sure, there’s resale values and all that other stuff to think about, but maybe for a vacation home just have some fun!

Tropical House With Dream Patio

There’s a lot to like about this tropical-themed house, but my favorites are the patio with the bridge and plunge pool, and the bathtub.

Tropical House With Dream Patio

I’m not sure why I’m so enamored with some of these bathtubs – I feel like I post about them all the time. And I don’t even like to take baths!

Mojave Desert Prefab

Mojave Desert Prefab

Constructed as something of a “proof-of-concept” by o2 Architecture and Blue Sky Homes, this modest 1000 sq. ft. prefab is a snazzy little home with quite a few nice touches. One bonus I like is that it can be disassembled and moved, I suppose if you get bored with your first location.

Mojave Desert Prefab

It was mostly prefabbed off-site and then put together on-site. Throw on a few solar panels and other green and off-grid elements and they got a winner!
