Modular and prefabricated, the this vacation home for the future is really more of a home for the future. Suitable for living in full time, part-time, or even rarely, it was built in 16-foot sections and transported by flatbed truck to the building site, then put together in seven days. Amazing, and beautiful.

This cabin located on Little Deer Isle, Maine, is a small wood pre-fab. Trimmed with white and red cedar, the wood is harvested locally in Maine and the cabin contains no plywood or engineered lumber. The Little Deer Isle cabin is 24′ x 24′ with a 7′ x 11′ bump out was built for only $27,000. Amazing, and beautiful!

This beautiful Ruby Springs prefab home should put to bed the claims that prefab homes are boring. This place is beautiful. And I love the customizations: rock fireplace and facade, roll up wall, cork flooring, solar power, and most of the woodwork is done with reclaimed Douglas fir.

The circHouse is a new yurt structure that takes advantage of all the architectural benefits of the circular structure while gaining in an easy-to-build fully transportable small vacation home. The company behind the circHouse Yurt claims you can build a circHouse in a few hours, and customize it completely with wood paneled sections, window sections, doors, greenhouse roof panels, and more. It’s an interesting idea, to say the least.

I really like the looks of this modern little prefab in Austin, Texas. Built about 80% in the factory, then transported and put together on site, it has a nice, comfy feel to it.

I think the only reason I like this house is because it looks like a fortress!

But entirely in Peru then shipped to location on Easter Island, this simply designed cabins looks great. While they are helped substantially by the balmy subtropical climate of Easter Island, they still have a look that could be easily copied elsewhere, even as a simple wooden shell over a shipping container.

Constructed as something of a “proof-of-concept” by o2 Architecture and Blue Sky Homes, this modest 1000 sq. ft. prefab is a snazzy little home with quite a few nice touches. One bonus I like is that it can be disassembled and moved, I suppose if you get bored with your first location.

It was mostly prefabbed off-site and then put together on-site. Throw on a few solar panels and other green and off-grid elements and they got a winner!

As I’ve said before, prefab doesn’t have to mean boring! These prefab homes by North Carolina-based Deltec Homes range in size from 328 sq ft to 5000 sq ft!

They look great, and are reportedly strong enough to handle Florida’s hurricane season. And they are eco-friendly!

BlueSky Mod builds these wonderful prefab cabins, then ships them to your building plot ready to go – and they look awesome. Check out the design details on these!

The projected price is a shade under $100,000, so they are on the high end of some of the prefabs I’ve seen before. But you definitely get added value for that price, as the pictures attest.
