Though this design is made from two modular section built with a floating ceiling between them, it’d also work with shipping containers or ready-made building materials. It’s a great design – living area and kitchen in the middle, separate sleeping areas on either side!

BlueSky Mod builds these wonderful prefab cabins, then ships them to your building plot ready to go – and they look awesome. Check out the design details on these!

The projected price is a shade under $100,000, so they are on the high end of some of the prefabs I’ve seen before. But you definitely get added value for that price, as the pictures attest.

In the realm of small, affordable prefabs, the smart folks at Broadhurst Architects have come up with a great solution called The Crib. Starting at 175 square feet for the Basic Crib and 250 square feet for the Full Crib, these small structures are great for large backyards as an extra living space, or as a small cabin for your weekend home away from home.

This beautiful prefab home was built just up the road from the CabinZoom corporate compound in Kirkland, Washington, and was built out of prefabricated SIP panels. (SIP panels are computer designed, pre-made structural insulated panels that are shipped to the building site and then built together like jigsaw puzzle to form the skeleton of the house.)

This house was designed by architect Heather Johnston as part of her PLACE Houses collection, and has a laundry-list of green amenities, including rainwater collection, solar heating, low-VOC paints and cabinetry, and even passive solar design. And they look great!

The MetroCabin prefab is built by the same folks that build the MetroShip house boat that we reviewed a few days ago, and you can see the quality in the design details. Prices start at $32,500 for the MetroCabin, and they ship throughout the U.S. and to many parts of the world. If you got some land that you want to use while you’re getting a bigger space built, you could do a heck of a lot worse than a MetroCabin!

I love this cabin from Shelter-Kit! They start at $9,900, and the assembly time is only 3-4 days for a couple of people. They’re nice and solid looking, and I love the big covered porch!
